Major Hazards

Demonstrating compliance with IEC61508 or 61511 (for process plant) involves the analysis of safety against maximum tolerable targets for specific hazardous events and their safety systems.

RAS use a combination of screening Risk Graph techniques and more detailed quantification methods such as Layers of Protection Analysis or QRA to assess the Integrity Level of plant against safety, environmental and commercial targets and to decide if existing safeguards are adequate or if additional safeguards are required.
