Major Hazards

RAS have produced Occupied Building Risk Assessments for various Chemical and Petrochemical sites.

Based on current best practice including Chemical Industries Association (CIA) guidance we have developed a method for assessment of occupied building risk.

The RAS methodology for Occupied Building Risk Assessment includes:

• Sets out a policy outlining the method of management of occupied building risks, including the setting of risk targets and also the building damage/vunerability criteria.
• Identifies principle hazards, and occupied buildings.
• Performs a risk assessment for personnel within occupied buildings, taking into account any safeguards.
• Compares the risk assessment results against the set risk targets.
• Develops a programme of upgrades, if necessary. Adopting this approach to permanent and temporary buildings will assist in minimising the risk to personnel on site.
